What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a non-intrusive complementary therapy which works on the principle that all organs, systems and glands of the body have nerve endings which terminate on the hands and feet. By applying gentle and systematic pressure to these reflex areas balance can be restored to the body. The history of reflexology dates back over 5000 years to ancient Egypt, India and Japan.

Many people use reflexology simply to relax and enjoy some valuable "me time", as our modern daily lives can often leave us feeling as though we are neglecting our own needs. As reflexologists, our aim is not to claim to cure, but to reduce stress and increase relaxation; there may well be an improvement in symptoms.

How can Reflexology help?

Reflexology is a complimentary therapy which promotes a feeling of wellbeing. It is an effective treatment for relieving stress, can improve circulation and helps remove toxins from the body.

Reflexology is suitable for everyone from babies to the elderly. Most people will benefit in some way, although there are a few contra-indications which will be checked for during the initial discussion.

Please feel free to contact me to discuss your particular reason for seeking reflexology and how reflexology can benefit you as an individual.

What to expect from Reflexology?

A typical reflexology session will last approximately 1 hour, although the initial consultation will take longer as it includes a confidential discussion about your health and lifestyle.

You will only need to remove your shoes and socks.

The treatment includes a few warm-up techniques, followed by specific and systematic massage to the reflex areas found on the feet. It is a pleasant sensation and does not tickle due to the firm yet gentle pressure used.
